About Us!

I have always had a passion for personal care products, but there was something special about handmade bar soaps. The way they look, smell, feel...I could never get enough. I could not walk past a display of handmade soap without buying one...or several! After a while, my husband suggested that I stop (GASP) buying bar soaps and use the ones that I had on hand. At that time, I realized something. With my background (BS in Chemical Engineering) and experience, I had everything I needed to make my own, and then some. "Ok," I said, "I'll just make them!"

So in 2005 I started making soap in my kitchen. Of course, I gave the soap to my friends and family. My soaps were a hit, everyone loved them. With the encouragement of my family and friends, I signed myself up to sell soap at a few local craft fairs. It wasn't long and I had repeat customers! And if that wasn't exciting enough, my passion for handmade bar soaps was evolving...If I could make bar soap, what about liquid soap? Lip balms? Lotions?!? The possibilities were endless!

I realized that my business philosophy was just to make great products. If I can use organic ingredients, I will. If I can make it 100% natural, I will. If I must use a synthetic ingredient, I will make sure that it is the very best and safest option. I do not, or will not formulate with phthalates, parabens, or sulfates.

By 2007 we moved my operation into the back of my father's shop, a perfect place for me to work. We started selling at our very popular local farmer's market. In 2008, I left Corporate America and ventured out on my own. I was a full-time Adagio employee!

I am humbled and appreciative of all the support I receive from my beloved husband, Dan. I could not do this business without his love, support and muscle! You will most likely run into him and our son Leo at the farmer's market. They are such a good team. Sometimes you may find our Vivian running around. Perhaps in 2017, she'll get some on-the-job training!
